Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879 in Germany. When he was only 12 years old, he taught himself algebra and geometry all by himself in just one summer! That's really impressive!

His family moved to a new city when he was a baby, and when he was in school, he had trouble with some subjects like language. But when he was 16 years old, he wrote a really important paper about magnetism. This paper was inspired by a gift from his dad, a compass!

So, Albert Einstein was a very smart person who made a big discovery about magnetism when he was just a teenager.

THEORY OF RELATIVITY

He was a very, very smart person who came up with some really important ideas! One of the things he is most famous for is something called the "theory of relativity." This is a big idea about how things move and how time and space are connected.

He also came up with an equation that you might have heard of before: E = mc^2. This equation tells us that energy and mass are connected in a really important way.

When Einstein was just 12 years old, he even discovered his own way to prove something called the Pythagorean theorem, which is something that we learn in math. By the time he was only 14, he was really good at something called calculus, which is a kind of math that helps us understand things that are always changing.

YEAR OF MIRACLE

In his life, Einstein wrote a lot of papers - over 300 of them! Some of them were about science, but some were about other things, like his thoughts on how to live a good life. And because he was so smart and did so many important things, he even won a really special prize called the Nobel Prize in 1921!

In the year 1900, he wrote a paper about capillarity, which is how liquids move through small spaces.

Then five years later ,in 1905, he wrote four more papers that were really important. One was about how light can make electricity, one was about how tiny things move around randomly, one was about how time and space work together in a special way, and one was about how mass and energy are connected.

These papers were so amazing that people call that year, 1905, Einstein's "year of miracles"!

In 1925, Einstein won a very special award called the Copley Medal from the Royal Society of London. He got this award because he had a really important idea about how time and space work together, and also because he made important contributions to quantum theory.

PERSONAL LIFE

The scientist married Mileva Maric in January 1903. However, Maric and Einstein’s relationship did not last with them divorcing in 1919, mostly because of the physicist’s attraction for his cousin Elsa. Einstein married Elsa Lowenthal in 1919 following five years of relationship. Elsa passed away in 1936 from kidney ailments.

EINSTEIN-GANDHI

Einstein reportedly loved music and had said that if he were not a physicist, he would probably have been a musician. He was also deeply fascinated by Mahatma Gandhi and the two exchanged letters over the course of their lives.

On April 17, 1955, Einstein experienced internal bleeding due to a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and died early next morning at the age of 76.
